Sarath Mohan
Assistant Professor, School of Law

Mr. Sarath Mohan has five years of experience in teaching and research and has worked across the domain as Assistant Professor(Law) at Bhavan’s N.A Palkhivala Academy for Advanced  Legal Studies and Research(PALSAR), and as a full time Research Scholar at School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT).He has completed his Master of  Laws from School of Legal Studies, (CUSAT), Cochin, Kerala and is the recipient of the prestigious  Dr. A. T. Markose Memorial Gold Medal for Securing First Rank in Master of Laws. Mr Mohan is pursuing his Ph.D. from School of Legal Studies(CUSAT).The research addresses the nature of democracy in India and the role of free and fair elections in bringing about a more fruitful and successful practice of democracy in India. The study focuses on the concept of free and fair elections and stresses the need to elevate the concept to a constitutional right. The study looks critically at how far the right to free and fair elections is ensured through the constitutional and legal framework with regard to the conduct of elections in India.

He has several publications in his credit, including publications in UGC Care Listed Journals, International Law Journals and Chapters in Books published by reputed law universities in India. He has also worked as an Assistant Editor on Board of Editors of Cochin University Law Review, School of Legal Studies(CUSAT). He has co-edited a Book titled “ Human Right to Peace: The Changing Shades of Content and State Responsibilities” published by the Directorate of Public Relations & Publications(CUSAT) for Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Chair on Human Rights.

He began his career in teaching and research as an Assistant Professor in Law with    Bhavan’s N.A Palkhivala Academy for Advanced  Legal Studies and Research.   Subsequently, he joined the School of Legal Studies(CUSAT) as a full-time Research   Scholar pursuing his PhD in Law before joining Sai University as an Assistant Professor in   Law.

He nourishes an interdisciplinary approach towards academics and has qualified Master   of Arts in Sociology and  Political Science from Indira Gandhi National Open   University(IGNOU), New Delhi. He has qualified UGC NET in Law, Sociology and Political   Science. He has a Master of Business Law from the National Law School of India   University (NLSIU) Bengaluru, to his credit. He has also completed three Post Graduate   Diplomas in Cyber Law and Forensics, Medical Law and Ethics, and in Human Rights Law   from NLSIU. He is passionate about applying his knowledge in research and connecting   with students of Sai University to help them attain their highest potential.
