Role Summary:
The Dean of Law School at Sai University plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing and managing the Law School’s academic programs, faculty, students, and all administrative functions. The Dean will be expected to continually improve the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of the processes and services provided by the School, in line with the University’s strategy and the need to deliver an excellent student experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

● Provide visionary leadership for the law school and align its goals with the University’s mission.
● Develop and implement academic policies, programs, and initiatives to enhance the quality of legal education.
● Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations.

Faculty Management:

● Recruit, hire, and retain qualified faculty members who are dedicated to teaching and scholarship.
● Oversee faculty development, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
● Foster a culture of academic excellence, research, and community engagement among the faculty.

Curriculum Development:

● Collaborate with faculty to design and update the curriculum to meet the evolving needs of legal education.
● Introduce innovative teaching methods and technologies.
● Ensure that the curriculum aligns with the University’s educational goals.

Student Affairs:

● Oversee student admissions, enrollment, and academic advising.
● Promote diversity and inclusion within the student body.
● Address student concerns and maintain a positive learning environment.

Budget and Resource Management:

● Develop and manage the law school’s budget, including tuition and financial aid policies.
● Allocate resources efficiently to support academic and administrative functions.
● Seek external funding and grants to enhance programs and facilities.

Community Engagement:

● Build and maintain strong relationships with alumni, legal professionals, and the broader legal community.
● Promote the law school’s reputation and engage in outreach efforts to enhance partnerships and opportunities for students.

Accreditation and Compliance:

● Ensure the law school maintains accreditation from relevant accrediting bodies.
● Stay current with changes in legal education regulations and standards.
● Stay updated with the regulatory and accreditation requirements for law schools in India, such as those set by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

Strategic Planning:

● Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor to align the law school’s strategic goals with the institution’s overall strategic plan.

Fundraising and Development:

● Engage in fundraising and development activities to secure financial support for the law school’s initiatives, scholarships, and facilities.

Skills:

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
● Visionary leadership and strategic planning abilities.
● Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulations governing legal education.
● Commitment to the values and mission of Sai University.
● Financial management and fundraising skills are crucial.
● A distinguished record of scholarship, teaching and legal experience.
● International academic experience is an added plus.

Qualifications:

● Ph.D. in Law obtained from a renowned university
● 14 to 20+ years of Extensive academic and research experience with a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, or legal practice experience.
● 5+ years of Administrative and leadership experience in a School of Law, preferably at the Dean or Associate Dean level.
● Compensation will be determined by the candidate’s achievements and will not be a limiting factor for the right individual.

● Recruit, hire, and retain distinguished faculty members in computer science, data science, and related fields of the school.
● Support faculty development, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
● Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and research.

● Collaborate with faculty to design and update curriculum to align with industry trends and technological advancements.
● Introduce innovative teaching methods, technologies, and interdisciplinary programs.
● Ensure that programs prepare students for careers in Computer Science and Data Science.
