Dr. Toleti Subba Rao
Professor, School of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Toleti Subba Rao has 34 years of academic experience in Microbiology, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences and has worked across the domains which include Microbial Ecology, Environmental Biotechnology, Industrial Cooling Systems and Environmental Impact Assessment. Dr. Rao earned his PhD in Biotechnology 1999 from Anna University and the degree of Doctor of Science in 2020 in Biotechnology from Periyar University. He has received many awards such as International Meritorious Contribution Award 2019 from National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE-USA); Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Group Leader Award 2018; S.K. Seshadri National Award 2013 from Electrochemical Society India, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru; DAE Group Achievement Award 2011 and NACE International, Excellence Award 2006. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Applied Biotechnology Society and a Senate Member of Alagappa University and Member of the Board of Studies at several universities. He has 115 journal publications and published several classified technical reports for the Department of Atomic Energy.
He began his professional career as Technical Officer with Indian Veterinary Research Institute-ICAR, Uttar Pradesh in 1987. Subsequently, he joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in 1988, Kalpakkam as a Scientist and was throughout associated with it before joining Sai University. In his career span, he has been associated with many national institutes and universities such as Faculty at Homi Bhabha National Institute and collaborated in various projects with the National Institute of Ocean Technology, Indian Institute of Science, Nuclear Power Corporation of India, Anna, Alagappa, Pondicherry, Sri Ramachandra University. At Sai University Dr. Rao will be engaged in teaching and research in his area of expertise as well as will be responsible for setting up the Biology laboratory.
