Philips is a veteran from the Indian Army, Provost Instructor in Corps of Military Police Centre & School and Signal Instructor from the Military College of Telecommunication and Engineering with 16 years of service (he was part of IPKF & Kargil and various other operations as an Indian Paratrooper) and with over 16 years of experience in the field of education. He is a decorated Indian Army veteran who holds the following medals: Bengal/Assam Medal, Nine (9) Years Long Service Medal, 50th Anniversary Medal, Rakshak J&K, Medal, Special Service Medal.
He strongly believes that the Army and Adventure go hand in hand and this encouraged him to pursue a vision of integrating adventure sports with education. As a result, he has organized over 50+ different types of adventure sports activities for students and faculty members across the country He holds the following awards and records: Limca Book of Records, Unique World Record 2016, Indian Achiever Book of Records, Book of Achievers 2017, India Book of Records
Philips worked in IMI Bhubaneswar as a CAO, Alliance University as Senior Assistant Registrar, Bangalore Management Academy and ICFAI Bangalore. He has extensive experience in general administration, compliance of UGC, AICTE & BCI, Annual Report, RTI, Archives, Student’s eligibility verification, IQAC, NAD, SWAYAM, Facility Management, Operations Management, Logistics Management, Security Management and Team Management.
His previous teaching experience in the Army was as an Signal Instructor in training recruits in Combat Communications, Operating of all Radio sets, Line laying in battlefield, Coding and Decoding of message, Rebroadcasting, jamming etc.,
He has presented 11 Research papers in National & International conferences out of which 5 are published few topics like ‘Creativity in Management Practices with Adventure Sports (Awarded the Best paper), ‘Learning the Art of Management through Adventure Sports’, ‘Adventure Sports for Women as a Holistic Development as a Complete Entrepreneur’, ‘Leadership, Team and Risk Assessment skills through Adventure Sports’, ‘Management Practices with Adventure Sports’.
He is certified in First Aid & CPR from St. John Ambulance and a Life member of Indian Red Cross Society, Bangalore. He has secured Security Training Certificates in Security Matters, Handling of Small Arms, Fire Fighting, Physical Training. He has done special courses in Judo & Karate from the Corps of Military Police, Indian Army.
He has done MBA – HR along with various certification courses like Advanced Professional Diploma in Training & Development with specialization in Behavioural & Facilitation Skill Training, American TESOL Institute, Advance Security in the Field II (II), United Nations Department of Safety and Security, Regimental Signal Instructors Course, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) 18000:2007 and 18002:2008, MSME Development Institute, Chennai.
