Rahul Matthan
Mr. Rahul Matthan is a founder partner at Indian law firm Trilegal Partners and heads their telecom, media, and technology (TMT) practice. He currently serves on the management committee of the firm. His work covers such areas such as technology transfers, intellectual property strategy advice, technology M&A, venture capital investment, business process outsourcing, unfair competition, distribution and supply arrangements, dispute resolution relating to technology companies and electronic commerce. He has worked with various departments of the Government of India and advised them in policy matters related to the national spatial data infrastructure, and intellectual property. He actively provides consultancy to the organizations involved in bringing e-governance solutions to various municipalities around the country. He has also assisted the government in preparing the country’s privacy law as well as its Unique ID law. Mr. Matthan has authored the book The Law Relating to Computers and the Internet, (Butterworth, 2000). Since then, he has published numerous articles and thought pieces on various issues relating to computers, the internet and other new technologies. His latest book, Privacy 3.0 – Unlocking our Data Driven Future, addresses the challenges of regulating privacy in a big data world.
